The Heart of the Lakes offers families at all stages a thriving community with our strong school district, wonderful parks and playgrounds, and welcoming churches. Year-round residents and cabin owners alike experience the simple and family-friendly atmosphere of Annandale.

Biking trails that connect different areas of the community have expanded in recent years, helping our youth and residents travel safely by bike or on foot. Kids love the Summer Concerts in the Park, the HOLT Fun Run, a community-wide Trick-or-Treat event, and the CPR Holiday Train which has made stops here for quite a few years. These events and more make growing up in Annandale a pretty awesome place to be.

Three school buildings Annandale High School (9-12), Annandale Middle School (6-8) and Annandale Elementary School (PreK-5) provide quality education to approximately 1,700 students. The system has outstanding teachers and staff, and in recent years the Elementary students have placed among the best in the state in reading and math scores. Home of the Cardinals, our community regularly turns red and black in support of its athletes and teams. You will also find a fantastic Community Education Center, based at Annandale Elementary, which offers Early Childhood, Youth and Adult programs year-round.

Families here appreciate our beautiful public library, and City Park with its fishing pier, ball field, pavilion, and beach right in town. Pioneer Park, a 26-acre open air museum on Highway 55, offers a glimpse at our community’s history and pioneer life in this part of our state. Annual events at the park include pancake breakfasts, Fiddler’s Festival, a Halloween Spectacular and Pioneer Christmas.
